Crafty Creations Challenge

Little Bo Peep has lost her sheep and does not know where to find them.  Isn't the image just adorable from  Meljen Designs!  They are also sponsoring the challenge on Crafty Creations this week!  So let's see what you come up with for Mother Goose and Friends!
Papers are from DCWV paper stack as is the little saying.  The image is Meljen's, colored with CTMH H20 pencils, spica pens and sparkly flock on the sheep.  I distressed with CTMH inks.  The butterflies are CTMH with ink added for colors.  The pearls are pearl effects from Ranger.  Ribbon from my small stash.

Vintage Dress CCC Challenge

Images are Digi Doodles.  This weeks Challenge at Crafty Creations is Vintage Dress.  I was inspired by a card in Card Maker Mag for the ruffles on the bottom.  I wanted the red to pop so I kept my colors very simple .  Hope you like it and join us at CCC this week.

We had another busy week here in Minnesota.  Lots of snow on Tuesday night/ Wednesday morning, which ment boys home from school on Wednesday.  We were also blessed with the flu too.  It started with Jake on Saturday night and didn't end till Thursday.  All I got to say is I am tired of Snow, Puke and Poop for the week.  Hope to be back this week for Wednesday's new challenge.

CCC Fancy Folds

So I finally made it back to the craft table.  Ahhh it feels like forever!  I had to get a card made for a birthday that Jake gets to attend on Friday for a classmate.  I know my "fancy fold" really isn't all that fancy, but it works I guess.  Robyn's Fetish is sponsoring this week on Crafty Creations, so you will have to swing by to see what the others did with her fab images again.

This one was very simple.  The ship is actually on the paper from DCWV and is pre-glass effected so that made this one a quick make.  Just had to make the card open right to get the boat where I wanted it on the card, thus the fancy fold.  I covered with other flap with the matching paper, sanded all edges, stamped Ahoy Matey and made a gold pirate coin button closure.  Some paper rafia ties it closed.   In the inside I stamped and colored the treasure chest as well as the "Happy Birthday Matey".  I added pearl effects to the jewels on the chest as well as spica gold pens to the coins.

Welcome Baby!
I made this cutie for Brian and Krissy's cutie.  Welcome to the world Liam Bernard!
Liam arrived on Saturday and boy is he a cutie!  I got to hold him yesterday again and boy is he a handsome fellow!

I did add 3 buttons to the lower left corner to finish it off, I just didn't have them with me when I made the card and snapped the pics.

Update on Mayo Visit with Jason

I figured it just easier to write a brief summary of what we learned/ tested for at the Mayo this past week.

We met with Jason's Specialist in GI Peds on Monday morning.  He has several things working against him for certain at this point.  He was born with an extremely long colon.  Which means that it takes longer for the digested food to pass through it all, in turn pulling out more water along the way.  Jason also has very slow transit digestion.  This means that either he just has a system that moves really slow or that the nerves aren't sending the right messages at the right time to move food along the path correctly.  They call it a mobility thing.  That being said, there still are some unanswered questions to why, underweight, malnutrition  issues, tummy aches, ect.

The doctor ordered blood tests, bio feedback, and sweat test for this trip and will schedule a endoscopy and colonoscopy in the next few weeks.  The blood test were for protein levels, celiac, and a few other functions.  They all came back as normal.  The endoscopy will tell us for sure that  celiac is not present, as I have a gluten intolerance/allergy.  Even if that comes back good she said there is that chance that gluten is still the culprit.  As cilliac and gluten allergy are different and elimination is the only way to know for sure on the allergy, but until we are done with the endoscopy we will leave it in his diet for now.  The bio feedback was to test how his pelvic floor muscle are working and resting.  She does think the week long therapy would be helpful for him, as since he has had issues since birth he is more likely to be afraid of it being painful and this would help him understand better how to relax and what it should normally feel like down there.

The sweat test was for Cystic Fibrosis.  His test came back as borderline CF.  Which means we have to retest.  We will be able to do this on Tuesday in St. Cloud.  If that test comes back borderline again, they will have to do a blood test to see if he carries the gene.  If he does then we would get sent to a CF Specialist and they would have to do further testing to see if he actually has CF.

When I talked with her on Wednesday afternoon, she feels we will exhaust all possibilities before sending him on to a mobility specialty clinic.  This is something that they do not do at the Mayo for Peds and there are only 3 or so in the US.  There they would monitor how his nerves function along with his muscles and figure out the best possible solution for mobility issues.  She said they are a bit more pushy on the surgical aspects and she would like to make sure that we have exhausted all other methods first.  The most sever is getting a bag.  Which I DO NOT want for him at all!  The other is putting in a port by his appendix to allow us to flush his colon out with saline or whatever.  This can be taken out if over time it gets better, or they find new treatments that work.  But again this is going to be a last resort if we can not find any other answers.

For now we are doing our daily med regimen of Miralax, bisicotal, then adding in a low level antibiotic 3 times daily to hope it gives him the diarrhea, and 1 tbsp mineral oil to help make it slipperier.  We continue with the added fiber and new learned info from the biofeedback hoping for some relief for Jason.  If this doesn't do anything, we can add in a zelnorm like drug (zelnorm is no longer on the market due to heart trouble side effects) to see if that helps to speed up his colon/digestive track.

I will be touching base with the doctor in a week or so and will hopefully have a time set for the endoscopy and colonoscopy but that will more than likely not be until the middle of March as John's parents have off a few weeks and the doctor has two weeks off in there too.

Home Sweet Home Challenge at CCC

I am back this week with Crafty Creations Challenge.  I set the them as Home Sweet Home this week.
I was away at the mayo with my oldest son this week, so I have some stuff, but was very limited.  I so wanted to work with the lovely Deena's digi stamp, but I forgot to print out before we left.  Duh!

I saw this type of card in Card Maker a while back.  Loved the look of it and wanted to give it a whirl.  All I got to say is holy smokes that was a lot of work.  Between cutting and re-cutting and then embossing the top panels it was more work than I thought it would be.  Used 4x8 base of Dessert Sand (CTMH). Then 1/4 less in Outdoor Denim.  Then came the hard part, all the panels.  There are the 1st layer on top of the full door then the 2nd layer of panels are a bit smaller, embossed and popped up.  Love the look of the card with the sanded edges and dept looks great in real lift.  Added the popped plaque with saying to add some contrast.
I used a brad and metal tag for the door knob.  Below is the saying I stamped to finish off the inside.
Hope you join us at CCC this week for a chance to win some of Deena's wonderful digi images!

Little Princess

My Little Goddaughter turned One last week!  Isn't she just a doll!
I made her a Little Princess card, as she is treated like Royalty!  And Yes I do believe she knows it too!
I also had the pleasure of baking her 1st birthday "cake".  I used my Cricut and cut out the picks for the cupcakes.  Love how they turned out!  Yes the cupcakes are gluten, egg and dairy free!  The frosting did have butter in it with her mom's approval.

This was her first real self feeding. So she loved mushing it up in her fingers and hands.  I don't think she got much in her mouth, but she had fun!

Me and Faith
The boys and Miss Faith after all the cupcakes and toys!

Isn't Huge Love Henry a Doll!  I colored a whole boatload of these cuties in 4 different shades, so expect to see him lots in the next couple weeks for Valentine's Day.  This is my CCChallenge card for this week, yes a day late and not what I was aiming for, but my mojo is in hiding I guess.  The Mouse is Whiff of Joy of course.  The sentiment and hearts along with papers are all CTMH.  The ticket tags are Tim Holtz both stamp and dies.  Ribbon is from my stash of unknown (recycled from some gift).    Button is Jesse James Buttons.  Hope you can join us at CCC this week!

Whiff of Joy Sponsoring CCC this week!

Sorry no project yet for ya.  But I figured I would let you know that Whiff of Joy is offering the prize this week.  It is from their new Valentine line of Stamps.  Love it!

I got back last night from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester with Jason.  We are still trying to figure out his Gastro-Intestinal issues that he has had since birth.  We were unable to get in with a doctor waiting for the last two days, but they did actually agree to see him.  So we were lucky to get an appointment in 2 weeks, normally it is booked till late March, but someone had just cancelled.  Opted not to stay the rest of the week and wait to hopefully get in and will go on our appointment.  I am not really looking forward to a 3 hour drive at 4 am again, but what I won't do for my children.

I did get 28 Henry with Hearts colored from Whiff of Joys line, so as soon as I get a Valentine made I will post it this week.  Hopefully today yet, but I brought back a dreadful cold with me last night.  Yuck!  That and I have to try unpacking all the scrapbooking stuff I brought down (well partly, as I will need it in 2 weeks anyway).  Not to mention the clothing and stuff.  Hope to get back at it after a nap and some medicine this morning.

Hugs, Jaime
